1. Backstory:
- Introduction: Shantell Chambliss, Executive Director of Dress for Success Central Virginia, was revving up for the sequel to the inaugural Success and the City event of 2022. She looped me in to craft a new buzz around the second event. We aimed to remix last year's video coverage, cooking up fresh content and perspectives.
- Context & Challenges: Our main goal was to showcase how kick-ass women in business leave their marks on our community. But not just that, we wanted the atmosphere to be more about celebration and networking, making the strive for success more relatable and fun.
2. Ideation & Brainstorming:
- Concept Development: We dove back into last year's footage, creating new stories and fresh views on how influential women leaders are. We highlighted selfies, speaker snippets and vendor interviews to share how intentional DFSCV is in celebrating entrepreneurial women.
3. Strategy Development:
- Targeted Approach: We took an “ICYMI” approach with our target audience. We wanted our event's branding and content to spark conversations with new audiences as well as bring back last year’s participants to share how the first event impacted their businesses and networks.
4. Implementation & Structuring:
- Execution Process: We implemented more dynamic content (TikTok and Reels) that gave the fresh content more traction. We added viral sounds and trending overlays to juice up the visuals and drive more engagement and ticket sales.
5. Progress & Milestones:
- Results & Impact: The second SATC event sold out and was a success! We actively worked with event speakers to engage their audiences as well to truly make this a successful joint effort. It was evident how these women influencers were igniting change within their sectors. Our shared stories were turning heads and shaping perceptions.
6. Conclusion & Reflection:
- Lessons Learned: Grab as much content as possible by making the atmosphere light and relatable. Engage by asking questions vs. simply asking the participants to share their experiences. This gets more active volunteers for content.
